30 Days Visa-Free, One Flight from Frankfurt: Uzbekistan's Autumn Window

Do German travellers need a visa for Uzbekistan? No. According to Germany's Federal Foreign Office, German citizens can stay in Uzbekistan for up to 30 days without a visa, whatever the purpose of the trip — all you need is a passport valid for at least three more months on arrival.

Picture the moment: you leave Frankfurt on a grey autumn morning, and by the same evening you are standing under the turquoise domes of Samarkand, the air smelling of fresh bread and woodsmoke, the tiles of the Registan glowing gold in the last light. No visa queue, no embassy appointment, no paperwork weeks in advance. For travellers from Germany, the Silk Road has rarely felt this close.

Usbekistan Reise without a visa: what German travellers need to know

The Federal Foreign Office (Auswärtiges Amt) lists the essentials clearly. German citizens need no visa for stays of up to 30 days, and this applies regardless of the purpose of travel. Entry is possible with a passport, a temporary passport or a children's passport — the national ID card (Personalausweis) is not accepted. The passport must be valid for at least three months at the time of entry.

Every foreign visitor must be registered within 72 hours of arrival. If you stay in hotels, the hotel takes care of this for you, and on a round trip each new place of stay registers you again. Keep the registration slips: they are needed for domestic tickets and may be checked when you leave. On a guided tour, this is handled for you from the first night to the last.

A few more practical points from the same official source: no vaccinations are mandatory for direct travel from Germany; it is wise to bring some cash in euros or US dollars in perfect condition, as ATMs outside the big cities can be scarce; and drones may not be brought into the country. Travellers from Austria and Switzerland, or anyone holding another passport, can check the current rules on our Uzbekistan visa page — citizens of around 90 countries can now visit Uzbekistan visa-free.

From Frankfurt to the Silk Road: direct flights

Getting there has also become simpler. On 30 March 2026 the Uzbek carrier Centrum Air operated its first scheduled flight between Tashkent and Frankfurt — its first European destination — with twice-weekly flights on Airbus A321neo aircraft in its spring–summer schedule. Timetables change by season, so we always check the current schedule with you when we plan your dates.

Once you land, Tashkent is the natural gateway: a day of wide boulevards, metro stations decorated like palaces and the Chorsu bazaar, then onward to Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva by fast train or domestic flight.

Seidenstraße Rundreise in autumn: why October and November work so well

Uzbekistan has a continental climate with dry summers and cold winters. Autumn sits between the two: the long summer heat has broken, the light turns soft and golden, and the old cities are made for walking again. It is harvest time, when the markets are piled with pomegranates, grapes, melons and quinces, and the smell of plov drifts out of every courtyard.

For a first journey, a classic route is hard to beat. Spend three days in Samarkand with our Samarkand 3-day tour — the Registan, the Gur-e-Amir mausoleum and the Shah-i-Zinda necropolis — and sleep comfortably at the Hilton Garden Inn Samarkand. If you have ten days or more, our historical tour through Uzbekistan links Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva into one unhurried journey.

Planning your Usbekistan Reise with a local partner

Thirty visa-free days give you room to travel slowly — to add a night in a desert yurt camp, a pottery workshop in the Fergana Valley or a cooking class with an Uzbek family. What makes the difference is a partner on the ground who handles hotels, registration, trains, guides and drivers so you can simply enjoy the road.

GoUzbekistan is a licensed tour operator with offices in Tashkent and Bukhara, operating since 2007. We arrange private and small-group journeys with English-speaking guides and can tailor every itinerary to your dates and pace.
