The event, organized by the "Travel & Leisure" publication, was attended by representatives of foreign diplomatic corps, tourism industry experts, and Chinese media.
In his speech, Xiao Yan, the editor-in-chief and founder of the publication, emphasized that Uzbekistan has great potential in the tourism sector and is one of the most convenient destinations for travelers. "Uzbekistan, with its unique architecture, historical monuments, and tourism opportunities, attracts millions of tourists from all over the world every year. It is noteworthy that the number of Chinese tourists wishing to visit Uzbekistan has been increasing in recent years," he said.
The event participants also learned about the ongoing reforms to develop tourism in Uzbekistan. It was noted that due to the attention of the country's leadership, new tourism directions are emerging, infrastructure is improving, and Uzbekistan is being recognized as a tourism hub.
It was highlighted that 2025 has been declared "Uzbekistan Tourism Year" in China, and within this framework, various cultural events are being held in different cities of the country. To increase the flow of Chinese tourists to Uzbekistan, the number of flights between the two countries has been doubled.
Additionally, it was emphasized that in 2025, the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference will be held in Samarkand—the first time since 1985 that it will take place outside Paris.
