As part of the visit, with the support of our country's Consulate General, a presentation of Samarkand’s tourism opportunities and a "Road Show" were organized.
Participants were provided with information about Samarkand’s unique historical and cultural heritage, tourism infrastructure, new routes, and opportunities created for Russian tourists.
Attention was given to expanding bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector, organizing joint marketing campaigns and promotional activities for Russian tour operators. Discussions were held on signing cooperation agreements, developing educational programs for tourism specialists, and implementing joint projects in cultural and educational tourism.
Deputy Chairman of the St. Petersburg Committee for Tourism Development, Ilya Bannov, noted that cooperation with Uzbekistan is actively developing and that the sharp increase in tourist exchanges between our countries indicates significant interest in this direction.
Representatives of the "Silk Road Samarkand" tour company highlighted the city's potential in the MICE tourism sector. It was emphasized that the presence of modern infrastructure, congress centers, and logistical solutions allows Samarkand to position itself as a hub for regional and international business meetings. Interest was expressed in strengthening ties with specialized organizations in St. Petersburg to organize joint projects.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to further strengthen cooperation, develop new tourist routes, and hold events aimed at increasing the tourist flow.
The visit confirmed the high potential of cooperation between St. Petersburg and Samarkand and laid the foundation for expanding tourism collaboration.
